I've gone through the tutorials and the video...I've got articles in posts and the gallery is picking up the text but not the photo.
I'm not even seeing the 'custom fields' window to specify the photo, which I think is the problem. Is this custom fields window loaded with the plugin? With the theme? Or with Wordpress?
Do the images need to be in a specified 'gallery'?

1. Check settings to exclude fcg-YOU conflict
2. Try to turn off all your plugins at once to exclude fcg-other plugin conflict
3. Try default theme to exclude fcg-theme conflict
