FCG and Frugal Theme

Hello,
I am trying to use the gallery with Frugal theme. I heard the way I am trying to do it is best but the images dont load. I get the black box with no content

I installed Samsarin PHP so I could just add the FCG code into a widget. All I get is the black box.

I created my posts and they are marked as featured and I have articleimg with the url of the image. I also have in my settings for it to use catergory - Featured still no luck.

Please let me know if there is an easier way.

instead of putting gallery call like this:

try to put it like this
