FCG CPU Usage
hey guys, first i want to say.. fantastic plugin
thanks a bunch... but the reason im here is to discuss the CPU usage im getting due to this plugin. is it typical to hit %50 or %60 CPU usage over this single plugin? i've been checking daily process logs for my websites for the last 2 weeks or so and almost every day this plugin is the top process or 2 or 3 from the top.. ranging from 30% to 60%. could i have made a mistake installing it? is this common? and if so, is there a way to fix it?

Re: FCG CPU Usage
As a matter of fact I just received a ticket from Hostgator today shutting down my website because of the excessive CPU usage of FCG. When I got in touch with them they reactivated my website minus the FCG plugin. Is there any way to reduce CPU usage?
Here are some of Hostgator's comments:
From what I am seeing in the logs, this issue is directly related to your plugin .../ wp-content/plugins/featured-content-gallery/ that has recently been disabled. However, it does not appear to me that the site itself is to blame, it merely has a bad plugin. I am going to activate the site, but keep this plugin offline. Now, it's not possible for us to have a solution for every plugin out there simply due to the overwhelming number of plugins and scripts, and unfortunately this is not a plugin that we are familiar with. What you would need to do in this situation is research the plugin, and see if there is a solution for this plugin that will greatly reduce the CPU usage required to run it. Alternately you may want to locate another plugin that serves the same purpose. As always, checking with the developer who maintains the plugin either by email or over their support forums is always a great resource.

Re: FCG CPU Usage
yes mate, sorry to hear that about your website. seems anyone using shared hosting would be very subject to a suspended account, the only reason im able to check and track the progress is because im on a VPS with a bit more power. although it wont matter with end results - with more traffic and usage of CPU the entire server will begin to slow down and eventually become unresponsive at times.
is this common or possibly a mistake made on our part when installing it?
