FCG duplicate content issues

I read a post the other day by an experienced marketer who had an issue with one of her fairly new sites suffering a sudden dropin google rankings. After some investigation she traced this to what she thinks is a duplicate content type of issue caused by using FCG. She admitted that she may not have looked into ways to set it up to avoid this, but after removing it from the site her ranking issue was resolved.
Just wondered if anybody could give me a quick update on how to avoid this issue.

For example, should i use images only or just a little customised text?

fcg has not have duplicates if you put it only on home page..it will be only once
if you put it in header..yes, there will be the same content in header on each page..that is duplicate content...that the way wordpress works, there is some ways to avoid problems..you can read it here:

I don't think the duplicate content issue i was enquiring about was caused by FCG being installed in more than one place.
As i understand it i it seems it may be because FCG was using or displaying a large proportion of the full post text on the home page, therefore duplicate content?

Shouldn't be a problem if only an image or just specific text used for FCG?

yeah, since fcg uses post info as description in sliding text, could be duplicate content,
but you can have featuredtext custom field to avoid fcg grabbing info from post
