FCG works but only with parented category

PostBy kevin-nisute on Mon Sep 28, 2009 5:28 am

Hello, my name is Kevin, i am working on a website called http://www.nisute.com which switched to wordpress a couple months ago. Right off the bat we installed a number of plugins that we tested before launching the new system. Now we feel like we want to have FCG on our homepage to effectively feature unseen articles. We had some trouble but this was resolved by removing a conflicting plugin.

Today i ran into a new problem. Eager to turn on the gallery for the first time i made an test image for one of the articles that was supposed to be featured. It did show up, but the image did not. I figured out that if i use a different category, one that is parented to the one i actually want to use, it does work. But the actual main category does work as it should.

I've been using the slugs in case you might wonder if that's the problem. And i checked the image url for spaces, but there are none and it seems "%20" does it's job nicely for the other categories.

Now i was thinking since i didn't install wordpress in the first place, maybe the category "do not use" was supposed to be the main category, but if that's true, does this mean it's a known wordpress issue or a FCG issue?
If the latter, any idea on how to fix this?

Many thanks in advance!

PS: it's now running on a sub category with test images for the sake of showing that it works, but with the other category it displays the black loading bar and article text.

PPS: I deactivated the gallery as i don't want it to mess up the page with crappy images so i made a screenshot of it working with the wrong category.

whatever category you specifying, you need to have articleimg custom fields for each post in that category

1. Check settings to exclude fcg-YOU conflict
2. Try to turn off all your plugins at once to exclude fcg-other plugin conflict
3. Try default theme to exclude fcg-theme conflict
4. Post in this forum to involve me in your troubleshooting. URL is required

Yes i obviously got those as they are already working for the other category. I triple checked for typo's and urls in the articleimg.
