featuredtext not working - Page Titles are, but other text

I have used this plugin on other sites, but this one has me stumped.

I can add the images, the text overlay, but I cannot get the featuredtext to work. When I turn off the featuredtext switch, I only get the page titles to show, not the first 100 words of the page description.

I can make one or the other work - Do I need to change something in my template? I have looked through all of the forum posts and double checked my settings.
