Still havn't a clue how to solve this problem, I have turned off everything as described here: http://ottopress.com/2011/wp-quickie-metaboxes/ , but the pics won't be shown.

your issue completely not related to this topic..you just have some wrong fcg settings setup..give me screenshot of your fcg options settings

in fcg settings you provided string of post/pageids, which starts from id 1001.
This post probably has status Draft and shown in fcg as empty post.

You're absolutely right about post 1001, but I have removed it, and updated the post to the id's where the pictures previously has been shown. But it still doesn't work, do I have to reinstall WP 2.9 to make it work, or is the another solution?

where did you put the gallery call first time when you set up the gallery? so just replace old one with this one
