page content replaced by recent posts

Hi - I have installed FCG in wp 3.2.1, once I place the code into header.php, the site 'breaks' and all of my pages show only the most recent posts, no page content.

I have done a number of fresh installs of wp. this last time i installed wp, then fcg with no other plugins. the only settings i changed were to create the page "Home" and then changed the main page to the static page "Home" under Reading Settings. before pasting the code into the header there are no probs, but once the code for fcg is pasted into header then the pages will only show the most recent posts.
