2. Try to turn off all your plugins at once to exclude fcg-other plugin conflict

When I deactivated Contact Form 7 plugin it did away with this problem.....

This is exactly what happened to me in WP 3.1.3. There are no custom fields in the post page after the post area. They have seemed to disppear too
